Chrissy is a genre-bending DJ/producer known for his friendly demeanor, big smile, and unwavering support for new artists and marginalized communities in our scene—traits that shine through in his expansive, multi-genre DJ sets. His selections often center on rave music, Chicago house, and disco, but his multi-decade career has ranged from jungle to footwork to freestyle. This unique form of story-telling has brought him to venues such as Panorama Bar and [l=Fabric (2)], as well as prior residencies at [l=Smartbar] in Chicago, and San Francisco’s oldest and most storied queer club, The Stud. Also known as a well-regarded voice on dance music history, Chrissy ran the popular “My Year of Mixtapes” blog, posting original genre-focused DJ mixes every week for a year. He wrote the liner notes for [m=653283], compiled the forthcoming Montreal disco retrospective Move Up Energize for [l=Unidisc Music], and has written on dance music history, queer history, and advice for young musicians in [l=Mixmag], Beatportal, [l=DJ Magazine], [l=Red Bull Music Academy], [l=XLR8R], and [l=Electronic Beats]. His latest venture is a new record label called [l=Maximum Airtime]: a DIY, grass-roots, anti-corporate operation featuring upfront, melody-forward rave bangers. He has previously run a number of labels including [l=The Nite Owl Diner] and [l=Cool Ranch]. Chrissy is also a mainstay of dance music radio, with guest mixes, interview segments, and deep dives into dance music history appearing on [l=BBC Radio 6 Music] (for [a=The Blessed Madonna] and Tom Ravenscroft), [l=NTS (4)] (London & LA), [l=Rinse], [l=Dublab], and The Lot Radio, to name a few. With the stories behind his favorite tunes providing constant inspiration, and the dream of dancefloor utopia always on his mind, it’s clear that Chrissy is still on a mission.
