Dubbed “the Andre 3000 of techno” by the legendary Derrick May, Alexandros Tsotsos has carved out his place as GummiHz in the underground house and techno scene. With roots in Thessaloniki, London, and Berlin, Alex has developed a sound that blends deep grooves, intricate rhythms, and a global mix of influences that blur genre lines. His music doesn’t just fill the dance floor – it’s a journey, connecting people from all corners of the world. The name GummiHz is a clever mash-up of the German word *gummi* (rubber) and *hertz* (frequency), reflecting Alex’s focus on the frequencies that hit both body and mind – what he affectionately calls “the rubber bands.” This low-mid and bass-heavy sound is the signature of his music, driving through rolling basslines, bouncy hooks, and psychedelic atmospheres. Whether it’s house, techno, or even experimental, his tunes are celebrated for their danceable energy and the deep emotional connection they create not only on the dancefloor. For Alex, music isn’t just a job – it’s a way to connect, to explore, and to bring people together. "In the hands of the right operator, frequencies can trigger near-religious experiences," he says. His constant push to innovate has led him to embrace modular synths, adding new layers of depth to his sound. With years of experience and a passion for pushing boundaries, Alex recently launched Alphawaves, a new project focused on deep, immersive atmospheres and cutting-edge rhythms. His debut release dropped in June 2024 on Lowpass recordings. As he continues to evolve, one thing’s for sure: his journey is far from over. "I’m always experimenting, always evolving," he says. "For me, music is a conversation with the future." Looking ahead, he’s got a ton of exciting projects in the works. With his eyes on the future, Alex remains one of electronic music’s most forward-thinking and adventurous talents. So, tune in, turn on, and get ready for the next chapter in the sound of GummiHz.
