Recontextualizing the urgency, grit, and attitude of post-punk, industrial, and art rock for contemporary house music dancefloors, Russian-born, Tunisia-raised Tima Savchenko has always stood at the crossroads of eras and cultures, blending the familiar with the universal. Having spent his formative years in a shoegaze and indie rock band and gradually immersing himself in the local club scene through various electronic music duos, it is under his solo moniker as Gusik that Tima has come to embody meticulously curated club-oriented DJ sets, uncompromising and emotive collaborative live performances, and residencies dedicated to music from the margins. By infusing electronic music with evocative songwriting, Gusik’s voice reveals raw expressions of transformation, identity, power, isolation, and romance, interwoven with tactile acoustic gestures, tense and dramatic soundscapes, and body-shaking percussive elements. With his debut track ‘No Right Time’ now out on [a=Frankey & Sandrino]’s esteemed [l=Sum Over Histories] imprint, he has already garnered the support of like-minded artists such as [a=Trikk], [a=Adrian Roman], and [a=igor Bartyuk]. Embracing the influence of the past, Gusik channels the age of tomorrow and aims to disrupt the prevailing inhibition of emotional sincerity.
