“All the artists I love always changed and evolved and were willing to rip things up and start again,” he says. “Look how much Andrew Weatherall changed and evolved for example.” The idea of Nothing Stays The Same is simple, it’s about taking creative risks and musical leaps in order to evolve. Despite great success over the last ten years, Aitchison’s passion for music is based around the ethos that everything should be moving in new directions, exploring sounds and styles that mean something to him, no matter what they are. Nothing Stays The Same is about taking what’s come before and using it to drive something new, fresh and innovative. It’s not staying in one place, it’s moving forward and progressing as an artist. Nothing Stays The Same launched at Glastonbury 2024 and was followed by a series of sold out takeovers at Pikes, Ibiza and a tour around the UK and Ireland. The DJs that Aitchison chose to join him, all follow the same ethos that’s driving this new endeavour forward, they’re artists that take risks and showcase inimitable styles. Saoirse, Gene on Earth, Amaliah, Manfredas and Ivan Smagghe, Laidlaw, Niks and Fumiya Tanaka are just some of the selectors that have featured so far. After recent releases on fabric records and Saoirse’s trUst recordings label, the debut release from his Nothing Stays The Same imprint is dropping next month. Shortly after that Aitchison will make his hotly-anticipated debut on SlapFunk with a new four track EP. Following a series of stand-out b2b sets alongside label boss Samuel Deep and a whirlwind session at the infamous ADE closing party at BRET, a new partnership has been born that sees Mella Dee enter his most exciting era yet. "I am taking my music in a more experimental direction and working on some really interesting collaborations right now," he says. "The Nothing Stays the Same parties we've thrown so far have had such an incredible vibe and atmosphere and I can't wait to see where I can take things next."
