Moacir Santos (1926–2006) was a Brazilian composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist known for his innovative contributions to Brazilian jazz and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira). Blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms with sophisticated harmonies and orchestration, he crafted a unique sound that influenced both Brazilian and international jazz musicians. His albums, such as "Coisas" (1965), are regarded as groundbreaking, showcasing his mastery of complex arrangements and rich melodic structures. After moving to the United States in the 1960s, he worked as a film composer and collaborated with artists like Sérgio Mendes.
