American actor, author, director & musician. Born on April 11, 1961, in Buffalo, New York (USA). Gallo began playing guitar in garage bands during the early 1970s, during which time he developed an appreciation of electronic, avantgarde, experimental, prog rock and proto-punk bands. He played in obscure Buffalo-based outfits such as the Blue Mood, Zephyr (no relation to the late 1960s rock band) and the Plastics, before relocating to New York City at the age of 16. There he cofounded Gray, a group with soon-to-be renowned artist Jean Michel Basquiat. In 1982 he released an album with a band named Bohack and during the early 1980s he also had a rap duo called Trouble Deuce and Coce. After recording the soundtrack to the underground film The Way It Is he turned his back on a musical career, and focused primarily on working in movies, landing steady work as either an actor, director, or composer. Gallo broke through with 1998's Buffalo 66, of which the soundtrack included several of his own original compositions. Later in 1999 he recorded an album for Sony with guitarist Lukas Haas under the band name Bunny. The recordings were overseen by Yes producer Eddie Offord, but despite a successful Japanese tour the group split up, resulting in the shelving of the debut's release. After relocating to Los Angeles, Gallo built a studio in his John Lautner designed home where he began laying down solo demos, which attracted the attention of Warp Records who released 2001's When and the So Ad EP, and 2002's Recordings Of Music For Film. In 2007 Gallo formed a band named RRIICCEE with Eric Erlandson. In 2025 Gallo produced, engineered and mixed recordings made by him and fellow musician Harper Simon under the name Butterfly.
