Europe-based US-born DJ/producer Whitney Weiss got their formal start playing 8+ hour stretches in Argentinean factories and parks and honed their craft as a resident at Dengue Dancing, a decadent weekly party that had to be seen to be believed. After five frenetic years in the Buenos Aires underground, they relocated to Berlin for a quieter pace of life. Over the more than decade since, Whitney split her time between Berlin and Paris, held residencies in Paris (Club Sandwich, Strangé, Wanderlust, Silencio) and London (Dalston Superstore), and DJed all over the northern hemisphere, including repeat sets at top queer parties Buttons (Berlin), PAT (Brooklyn), Savage (London), qLab (Milan) as well as DJing for Smolna (Warsaw), Dreamhouse / Spectrum (Brooklyn) The Carry Nation (Brooklyn), Melt Festival (Germany), and We Love Green (France). Currently in their eleventh year on Rinse France—their show "It's Whitney, Bitch" is in its ninth season—they've also logged performances on The Lot Radio, NTS, Ibiza Sonica Radio, HÖR, and Teki Latex’s French TV Show Overdrive Infinity. Now based between Berlin and Sicily, Whitney recently shifted focus to production and songwriting after two decades of prioritizing DJing. Following their 'Too Hot' EP on New York's Major Records in October 2023, they were featured in DJ Mag's December 2023 "eight emerging artists you need to hear" and made good on the accolade with 2024 releases that include a single on Cómeme ('GIMME') remixed by Christian S, a track on Full Tilt Carry Vol. 2, the Nervous Records compilation curated by The Carry Nation, a second EP 'Gong Disco Senior' on Sorry Records, and remixes for ELLES and Chris Garneau. In December of 2023, Whitney launched Chinotto Records with a Mixmag premiere for her 'Temperance' EP. In 2024, Chinotto also released original music by Ana Helder, Bouffant Bouffant and remixes by ELLES, Evelyn, Jaye Ward, Needy Beast, Perfect Lovers, Quickweave, and Spatial Awareness digitally and on limited-edition vinyl. To mark the label's one-year anniversary, Whitney started the Tarocco Singles Club in December of 2024. Tarocco's first 22 singles will be pressed on limited-run 7-inch records that correspond to the tarot's major arcana. Singles so far include music from Bouffant Bouffant, Redance, and Scotia. Whitney's latest release is the track 'Beurre' on the comp '001 V/A' from Paurro's new label aanjel.
