Soul:r carved out legendary status by championing liquid funk's emotional depths and techstep's precision before the genre had names for them. Founded by Marcus Intalex and ST Files, the Manchester imprint proved darker techno sensibilities could merge with brighter melodic touches to create something genuinely transcendent. Their roster--Calibre, High Contrast, LSB, Martyn--reads like a who's-who of principled artistry, refreshingly free from controversy. More than a label, it nurtured community through Soul:ution club nights and became synonymous with integrity in drum & bass.
